PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated: July 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Travel Expense Tracker ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and other applicable data protection regulations.

1. Our "No-Server" Privacy Commitment
Unlike many other financial tools, our App is designed with a Local-First Architecture. This means:
  • We do not collect, store, or process your personal expense data on any external servers.
  • Your data (text entries, expense amounts, and images) remains exclusively on your physical mobile device.
  • We have no technical means to access, view, or sell your personal travel records.

2. Information Handled by the App
While we do not collect your data on our servers, the App manages the following information locally on your device to function:
  • Expense Details: Manual entries of trip names, dates, amounts, and split-logic calculations.
  • Images: Photos of bills and receipts captured via your device camera.
  • Device Information: Basic technical data (operating system version, device model) used by third-party ad networks to ensure the App runs correctly.

3. Permissions and Usage
To provide the core features of the App, we request the following permission:
  • Camera Access: This is used solely for the "Bill Capture" feature, allowing you to photograph receipts and save them to your local expense records.
  • Consent: By granting this permission within your device settings, you provide specific, informed consent for the App to use your camera for this purpose. You may revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

4. Third-Party Advertisements
The free version of this App uses third-party advertising partners (e.g., Google AdSense/AdMob) to display banner and full-screen advertisements.
  • These third-party networks may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to collect information about your interactions with ads.
  • Their data collection is governed by their own respective privacy policies, and we do not have access to the data they collect.

5. Third-Party Affiliate Links and Bookings
The App contains affiliate links to external service providers (e.g., Ola, Uber, Swiggy, Zomato, MakeMyTrip, etc.).
  • Redirection: When you click these links, you are directed to a third-party application or website.
  • No Data Sharing: We do not share your local expense data with these affiliates.
  • External Policies: Once you leave the App, your data is subject to the privacy policy of that specific service provider. We recommend reviewing their policies before making a booking.

6. Data Retention and Deletion
  • User Control: Because all data is stored locally, you have the absolute "Right to Erasure". You can delete specific entries or all data at any time by clearing the App cache or uninstalling the App from your device.
  • No Backups: We do not maintain any backups of your data. If you delete the App, all data is permanently removed and cannot be recovered by the developer.

7. Children’s Privacy
In compliance with the DPDP Act, this App is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly process or facilitate the storage of data belonging to children.

8. Security Measures
We implement reasonable technical safeguards within the App’s code to protect the integrity of the local database on your phone. However, the ultimate security of your data depends on your device security (e.g., phone passcodes, biometrics). We are not responsible for unauthorized access to your data resulting from a lost or compromised device.

9. Your Rights as a Data Principal
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
  1. Access: View your data within the App interface.
  2. Correction: Edit any inaccurate expense entries.
  3. Erasure: Delete your data entirely from your device.
  4. Grievance Redressal: Contact us regarding any privacy concerns.

10. Grievance Officer and Contact
For any questions regarding this Privacy Policy or to exercise your rights, please contact our designated Grievance Officer:

Location: Bommasandra, Karnataka, India
We will respond to all valid inquiries within the timelines mandated by the DPDP Rules.

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
